Today is the 10th and that means it is time for the reveal of the latest kit at Elle's Studio! This month the exclusive kit and coordinating extras are bright, colorful, and sweet:
My first project that I made is a Halloween spread...what?! Yes, I know, not only am I way behind in my scrapping, but I also chose to disregard the obvious love/Valentine's vibe that the kit gives off. THIS is what I love about Elle's Studio projects-I am able to make each kit work for me!
For my second project, a 9x12 layout, I relied mainly on the journaling cards to create the layers behind my photo with the addition of a few paper scraps and washi from my stash. I also incorporated a few of the fun acrylic hearts and sequins that are available this month. For my title I misted the "True Love" wood veneer with a gold color. Unfortunately it did not photograph well AT ALL and I had to do a double take when I saw the picture pop up on my computer. It looks much better and not so splotchy in real life.
Hello! Yes, I am still alive and yes, I am still scrapping away! My poor blog. Despite my best intentions, my blogging has slowed way down as I have attempted to compensate for a fuller schedule. Since school resumed mid-August my kiddos' extra-curricular activities have increased and, I am happy to say, I am routinely exercising! These things have cut my free time down a bit and by the end of the day I am usually too exhausted to do any sort of activity that requires my brain! Ha ha.
So with that being said, I am attempting to get back into a blogging routine because I like it and with the return to shorter, colder days and more time being spent inside this is definitely a good time to get back into a somewhat regular blog schedule and with that goal in mind, here is a fun layout that I have really been wanting to share:
This layout was a complete joy to put together. First off, the picture is just so great-Maleia was incredibly happy to be walking in the Halloween Parade at school dressed as Mal from the Descendents and I caught this with my camera. Second, I just loved this cut file from The Cut Shoppe and could not wait to layer it over a misted background. Third, I used a crazy mix of paper here-I used both Doodlebug's Halloween Line and Cute Girl from Crate Paper-and had a fun time mixing the two together to come up with a fun color combination. Finally, it felt so great to reach into my stash of supplies and use some of it up.
One of the challenges that I face when creating layouts for a very themed photo, is creating a layout that is not very themed. I know that might not make sense, but unless it's a Christmas photo, I really feel uncomfortable using themed products. For this layout I felt like I found a good balance between Halloween and non-Halloween product.
Thanks for stopping by today and I am absolutely looking forward to sharing more here on my blog as the year winds down!
Hello! Today I am sharing a layout that I created with the October "Waverly" Scrapbook Kit from Citrus Twist Kits that documents a knee injury from when I tripped on a baby gate. Yes, I trip on things pretty routinely, but this was the first time I really hurt myself. My husband warned me pretty frequently not to step over the gate, but I obviously did not listen! Ha ha.
This fall actually hurt really bad. I tripped on the gate that goes into the garage from the backyard and the garage floor is cement. I have fallen once before (slipped on the kitchen counter) and thought I was going to die, but I was able to get up after a few moments and move on with my day. And in full disclosure, I often trip, fall, and run into things-according to my husband I am a walking danger to all those I am around and I can't entirely deny that! This one though, was different. Instead of getting up and walking it off, the tightness/pain just got worse and when I woke up the next morning I couldn't bend my knee or walk. Pretty pathetic.
Luckily after all was said and done, I only had a badly bruised bone and fluid in my knee. It all healed with time and patience and I am so incredibly thankful that I didn't tear anything. I think the worse wound though was the fact that I did this to myself. It was totally preventable. Do not step over baby gates, they are dangerous ;).
Hello! The 10th of the month always means one thing--Reveal Day at Elle's Studio! The new exclusive kit and coordinating extras are absolutely perfect for recording your fall memories whether you take a Project Life approach to documenting your memories or you create traditional layouts. Whatever your approach, I am sure the October Exclusive Kit can work for you.
Good morning! Today I am super happy to finally be able to share my first three projects that I made using the gorgeous April Kits from Gossamer Blue! This month the kits are full of a great mix of products from American Crafts including Pebbles, Dear Lizzy, Amy Tangerine, Maggie Holmes, and Shimelle.
When I was working on my layouts I was like a kid in a candy store, having so much variety really made it difficult to narrow down the products to use on each layout because I wanted to use it all at once! As a result I have three very unique projects. Here they are in no particular order:
`
They couldn't be anymore different, right?? To see more projects made with the April Kits make sure and check out the Gossamer Blue Gallery!
I had lots of fun watching all the new releases roll out during CHA on Instagram a few weeks ago and boy was I super excited to see some of the things I was drooling over in my box of February Kits from Citrus Twist! Seeing papers and embellishments from the most recent releases from Crate Paper and Pink Paislee sure made my day :).
This month I worked with both the February Main "Stories" Kit and a part of the Embellishment Kit (due to shipping time frames the design team was unable to have the entire kit) and I am so happy (and so nervous because I am totall newbie) to say that I have an unboxing video to share! Yay!
I created layouts in record time this month and this is due entirely to the fact that I was so excited to work with the stuff--nothing gets my scrappy mojo going like a fresh box of brand new goodies!
This is a fave layout simply because I love the story so much! The blues in the kit were such a great compliment to the photo and I had fun adding in a little bit of pink using the cut apart sheet from Maggie Holme's new Bloom line.
For US, I returned to one of my go-to designs and I even pulled out one of my most loved punches to add a little touch of whimsy. (I love saying "whismy!) One of my favorite things to do is bring back an older design or technique and give it a fresh twist with new products.
Again in this third layout, I really went to town with the blues in the kit. I don't know, but blue is just such a fresh color for me right now. I complimented it with the yellow in the kit and more black and white elements.
For my final project this month, I used a 3x4 card from the cut apart sheet I mentioned earlier and paired it with this picture of my daughter after she successfully made it across the monkey bars. For a change, I mix and matched some word elements for my title.
Well, there you have it my Citrus Twist projects for February! To see more projects made from this month's kits make sure and head on over to the Citrus Twist Gallery or the blog where we share daily shots of inspiration. Welcome to my stop on the January edition of the Gosssamer Blue Inspirational Blog Hop!
I know that the "kit world" moves pretty fast and when most of you are receiving your kits the design team is receiving the next month's kit which means sneaks of the new kits start happening.
At Gossamer Blue we know that this can be pretty overwhelming, so we've come up with a solution-each month on the 15th we are going to inspire you just as you are receiving your kits!
This month the January Kits were pretty fantastic and I truly had so much fun creating with them. Today I want to share a brand new layout that features both January's Life Pages Themed Add-On and the Main Scrapbook Kit:
I really wanted to feature the wood veneer title from Crate's Shine Collection and went with a basic grid design. I also went a little wild with the hearts and took a "more the merrier" approach as I was deciding how many to add! Here are some closeups:
Now as much as I hope I have inspired you to drop everything and get those January Kits out, I want to encourage you to continue working your way through the hop because there is an amazing amount of talent in today's line up and I wouldn't want you to miss a thing! Here are the links:
Today's the 10th and that means it's time for the reveal of the new kit and gallery from Elle's Studio! This month I took my cues from the cards and tags included in the exclusive October Kit and documented pumpkins and Halloween-two of my fall faves!
Instead of jumping right in and sharing my projects, let's first take a look at the new products and class that Elle's Studio is offering this month.
Here is a look at the two projects I made for the month of October:
The Thankful Collection (which is also available in the store!) is a great match for the tags included in the kit.
Next, I chose a few photos to document from last year's Halloween. I paired the Halloween themed cards from the kit along with the fun glittery bat from the package of Halloween Acrylic and Glitter Foam shapes.
My pocket page style is pretty simple and I love that the cards and tags that come in the kits are pretty much ready to go. I generally go for a minimal amount of embellishment and then into the pockets they go!
Now that I have shared my projects, I want to encourage you to jump on over to the Design Team Gallery for an extra dose of inspiration, but before you head out, make sure and note that there is free shipping available right now for purchases over $50 with the shipping code found below:
