Gossamer Blue: February Inspirational Blog Hop

GB Blog Hop Banner

Welcome to my stop on the February edition of the Gosssamer Blue Inspirational Blog Hop!

I know that the "kit world" moves pretty fast and when most of you are receiving your kits the design team is receiving the next month's kit which means sneaks of the new kits start happening.

At Gossamer Blue we know that this can be pretty overwhelming, so we've come up with a solution-each month on the 15th we are going to inspire you just as you are receiving your kits!

This month the February Kits featured a soft and earthy color scheme and I truly had a lot of fun creating with them. Today I want to share a layout that features the February Main Add On Kit and February Life Pages Kit.

One of my memory keeping goals for this year is to tell more stories--journal more often, give more details, and be more specific with my thoughts. Of course, when I chose this darker background I wasn't really thinking of writing space until I got further into the project and at this point there was no turning back. That is when I pulled a pretty journaling card from the Life Pages Kit, cut it down in size, and found a place for it on my layout. Voila! Instant writing space!

Now as much as I hope I have inspired you to drop everything and get those February Kits out, I want to encourage you to continue working your way through the hop because there is an amazing amount of talent in today's line up and I wouldn't want you to miss a thing! Here are the links:

The Cut Shoppe: Love Is All You Need

Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of this fun and sweet day, I decided to create a layout focusing on our family's littlest members--Mr. Cuddles and Squeakers! Our two little guys certainly have a place in their hearts for their humans, but the love they have for each other is beyond compare. To help tell this story I used one of The Cut Shoppe's most recent releases-Love Struck.

The Love Struck cut file set includes three love themed images, that can be used for your scrapbooking and papercrafting projects.

For my 6x8 layout, I chose to use the "Love is All You Need" title:

These two guys are seriously the cutest! Whenever they are apart they make all sorts of noises and search everywhere for each other.

Wishing you all the loveliest of days!

Gossamer Blue: February Reveal

Hello everyone! The first of February came way too fast and the only upside to this is that it means I can reveal the new layouts featuring the latest kits from Gossamer Blue!

This month, the February Kits are full of beautiful papers and embellishments from Basic Grey, Fancy Pants, and Heidi Swapp that had me scrapping a variety of stories, including our most recent snow and a desert hike.

This project feautures the Main Scrapbook Kit as well as Add-On Kit #2. The woodgrain hearts is so pretty in person--I really like the darker finish.

For my second project, I dived into the 6x6 Dear Heart Paper Pad from Basic Grey (from the Bits and Pieces Add-On) and built my layers with it.

Make sure and stop by the Gossamer Blue Gallery--I am lucky and get to peek at the projects early and I am always impressed by what the girls create!

Looking forward to sharing the rest of my projects with you real soon!

Gossamer Blue: January Blog Hop

GB Blog Hop Banner

Welcome to my stop on the January edition of the Gosssamer Blue Inspirational Blog Hop!

This month the January Kits were pretty fantastic and I truly had so much fun creating with them. Today I want to share a brand new layout that features both January's Life Pages Themed Add-On and the Main Scrapbook Kit:

I really wanted to feature the wood veneer title from Crate's Shine Collection and went with a basic grid design. I also went a little wild with the hearts and took a "more the merrier" approach as I was deciding how many to add!  Here are some closeups:

Now as much as I hope I have inspired you to drop everything and get those January Kits out, I want to encourage you to continue working your way through the hop because there is an amazing amount of talent in today's line up and I wouldn't want you to miss a thing! Here are the links:

Gossamer Blue: September Reveal

A brand new month brings a brand new set of kits from Gossamer Blue! Today I am super excited to share my first two projects with you featuring the September Kits!

When I opened my box I was beyond excited because the kits include lots of items on my scrappy wish list! You see, I have almost come to terms with the fact that I really don't need to buy any extra scrappy supplies outside of the kits because what I want ALWAYS shows up in a kit! I just need to wait patiently ;).

September's kits are a beautiful way to wrap up the summer season as we head into fall. If your anything like me, you are still in the middle of scrapping all things summer, but are really wanting to dive into fall already. This month's kits gave me that taste of fall while still being able to scrap summer. The beautiful combination of products from Crate Paper, Pink Fresh Studios, Fancy Pants, and Elle's Studio have me steadily feeling creative and excited about documenting my memories.

This first layout, Santa Monica Pier, is a combination of the September Main Kit, Main Add On Kit, and Add On Kit #2:

  Santa Monica

For this layout I wanted to build a big cluster of embellishments and the stickers and chipboard from Crate's Wonder made this so easy. I especially loved the string of lights sticker-so fun and I wish I had more.

Santa Monica 2

With this next layout, Joy, I went with a completely different look using products from both the Main and Add-On Kit #2:

I found myself super inspired by the polka dots on my daughter's floatie and let that guide me in picking out my papers and embellishments. I also cut some circles out of the wood grain paper and had them up float up in a vertical line.

Joy 2

As I said earlier I have been super inspired by September's Kits and I am really looking forward to sharing the rest of them with you soon! To see the rest of the design team's September projects make sure and stop by the Gossamer Blue Gallery!

Hip Kit Club: Buddies

For my son's fourteenth year, I decided to switch his album up and go with a 6x8 Handbook. The last few years I had been struggling a little bit with having enough photos of him to fill a bigger album. I am always camera ready, however due to his relunctance to let me take photos and the fact that he is rarely home, my camera roll has been a little light on photos of my favorite guy. The smaller sized album seemed like an easy solution and now that I am halfway through the year I am confident I made the right decision. Today I want to share how I created a two page spread using a combination of the Hip Kit Club June Kits for his Handbook.

  Buddies

I use a combination of pocket style and traditional layouts for documenting his teenage adventures and when I am doing this I like both pages, even if I am telling two different stories as I am here, to be cohesive in color and products. This means that I will often pull out a kit and work on two pages at a time. For these layouts I used pieces from the June Main, Embellishment, and PL Kits.  Here is a look at each individual page:

  Buddies 2

Buddies 3

One of my favorite parts about working with pocket pages, is that I get to customize the 3x4 cards with embellishments. Below you can see that on the left card, I simply  layered two of the Poolside diet cuts from the Main Kit and added some machine stitching. On the right, after cutting down a 4x6 card from the PL Kit, I adhered a wood veneer that I had sprayed with gold mist.

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share a few thoughts on how I went about changing up my memory keeping to better work for me and my camera shy teenager.

Hip Kit Club: Good Times

One of my favorite layout designs is a grid or block style page. I just love to cut my papers into squares and rectangles and then arrange them on a page-it's almost like putting a puzzle together. And the best part is that no matter how many times I return to this basic design, the resulting layouts are always so different from each other. Take for example, this next layout I made using the Hip Kit Club June Kits:

  Good Times

When I first pulled out my kit to make this layout, I was initially drawn to the square cards from the package of Fancy Pants Die Cuts in the June PL Kit. I combined one of the cards with a square cut from a piece of patterned paper and a frame. To complete my block design, I added in the title, journaling, and filled in the frame with a die cut.
